Mexico Mission Trip

Latham with childrenThis February, shortly after the Upper Room anniversary, a group from Noel will make its fifth trip to Juarez, Mexico to build homes.  Projecto Abrigo has built over 2000 homes in that area and Dave Fortuna, our minister, has been going for fifteen years. We build a concrete bloc building about 12 x 20 with one window and one door—no electriciy, no plumbing, but a good roof and a cement floor that allows the owner to move out of a cardboard hovel.  These are paid for by our church and by the folks going on the trips as we divide into seven person teams to do the construction in one week. A dental clinic has also received help from us and now employs a dentist several days each week.

Ten Upper Roomers have made some or all of the mission trips and they include Gordon Latham, Don Whittington, Jackie Watson, and Skip Buford. James Goins, Lewis Rigby, Sue Kamm, Clair Bryan, and Hugo and Ann Holland.
