Matthew 5:16
Trickett Memorial Garden:

The Upper Room Class has chosen for its fifty year anniversary project a renovation of the Trickett Memorial Garden .  The garden will be landscaped as a beautiful area for memorials, prayer, and meditation, and will be open during church hours.A memorial wall will be available for plaques in memory of members of Noel and their families.  A special sacred place will be set aside for scattering cremains of loved ones.  As soon as we have enough money raised, the project will begin.  When the garden is completed, plaques may be purchased to be placed on the memorial wall.  If the cremains of the deceased person are scattered in the garden, an asterisk will be placed on the plaque.

We are soliciting memorial gifts to the Trickett Memorial Garden Fund.  Copies of the policy manual and the landscape plan for the garden are available for your information. Our goal is to raise twenty-five thousand dollars (25,000.00).  Fifteen thousand will be for the landscaping and the other ten thousand for the perpetual care of the garden.  At this time, we have raised about nine thousand dollars ($9.000.00).  Checks may be sent to the church earmarked for the Trickett Memorial Garden or given to any member of the Upper Room Class.

Other Projects

Trickett/Upper Room Seminary Fund

At the class's 35th anniversary celebration, a fund was established to do something significant for the church. It was called the U.R. 35th Anniversary Fund. Money was donated for honorariums, memorials, etc. until a decision was made to dedicate the monies as a scholarship to seminary students in memory of our long-time teacher, Al Trickett. It is now known as the Trickett/Upper Room Seminary Fund, and the money is in the Methodist Foundation, earning interest, with only the interest being used to give to the students.

Since 2001, eight seminary students have received funds to help with their education:

John Cannon Jack Cheney
Molly McGee Steve London
Sarah Shirley DeAndre Johnson
Mimi McDowell Ashley Cockburn

We are happy that Al's name and legacy will be continued through these funds.
